The Landscape We Carry

Sunny Thursday, people,

Today feels like a moment for deeper reflection.
As you know, I am from Finland; that land of snow and ice, of gloomy dark winters and endlessly bright summer nights. A country where your nearest neighbor might just as easily be a bear or an elk, and where houses are surrounded by forests and lush fields.
For Finns, nature is part of our soul landscape. It is where we slow down, move our bodies, clear our minds, fall in love, and carry our worries.

But beyond utility or beauty, nature lives within us. Whether surrounded by mountains, forests, or desert, we are inseparable from our environment. It shapes how we think, what we value, and how we choose to live.
The world urges us to save nature.

Yet perhaps the deeper question is whether we are ready to reconnect with ourselves.
To protect the quiet, the balance, and the integrity within us — the same qualities we seek to preserve in the world around us. To remember, we breathe with the rythm of the trees, and that our minds soften in the presence of birdsong.

“This above all: to thine own self be true.”
— William Shakespeare
