100 % wool textile with the weft yarn of brands own. The yarn is spun from the wool fibres of Finnsheep and Finnsheep crossbreeds, which they have obtained from the local farms in Finland, as well as from certified Wool Integrity NZ fibre. The warp yarn is made in the EU area from high-quality, certified Wool Integrity NZ fibre, which guarantees that the animal welfare is also considered.

In order to achieve the best result, the fibres of the wool yarns come from different parts of the world, because the quality and fineness of the wool varies depending on the breeds of sheep and their living conditions. All yarns are mulesing-free.

Preserving and developing Finnish textile tradition is important for the brand to collect local wool from Finnish sheep farms for industrial use. A key motivation for the project was that a large portion of the wool had previously gone to waste. Lapuan Kankurit also rebuilt the production chain that had disappeared from Finland. Now they control the entire wool production process and engage in unique product development while passing on our expertise to future generations.

The product design, material purchases, loom programming and warping as well as the pre-work stages, weaving, fringing and fabric inspection are done in their own weaving mill in Lapua, Finland. If necessary, the sewing is done in their subsidiary’s at sewing department in Kaunas, Lithuania, or in their own sewing department in Lapua. Finishing – including washing, milling, drying and raising – is done in their own finishing plant in Lapua, Finland.
