The mid-indigo Maridenim Marssi jean shorts showcase the iconic Unikko pattern in sustainable, non-stretch cotton denim. Featuring a classic 5-pocket design with mid-rise waist and straight legs, these shorts are finished with Marimekko jean buttons and an FSC-certified jacron label. Each pair develops a distinctive patina over time, creating a unique character that defines Maridenim's appeal.

Crafted in alignment with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Jeans Redesign guidelines, these shorts use 80% organic cotton and 20% recycled cotton with zero elastane. The production employs innovative techniques; laser technology, E-Flow steam washing, and ozone washing, minimizing chemical use while eliminating traditional stone washing.

Designed with circular economy principles in mind, the shorts feature removable buttons and no rivets, reducing environmental impact without compromising style. The Unikko pattern, born from designer Maija Isola's passion for florals, symbolizes creativity and stands as a testament to bold design thinking.

Marimekko Maridenim products are designed following the Jeans Redesign guidelines of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the world´s leading network on circular economy. According to the guidelines, the denim material is monomaterial cotton (80% organic cotton and 20% recycled cotton) with no elastane. Marimekko Maridenim is made with minimal use of hardware, including the use of removable buttons and no rivets. The washing, finishing and use of chemicals also follow the guidelines. To produce the colors, patterns and desired feel of the products, we use, for example, laser technology, E-Flow steam washing and ozone washing, instead of, for example, traditional stone washing.

Unikko, symbolizing creativity, was born in a time when hardly any floral designs were included in Marimekko’s collections. Maija Isola, however, was fascinated by the theme of flowers and decided to create an entire range of novel floral prints.
